This week in Mrs H's reading group we made books on a website called Storybird. We did it in groups, in my group was Stella and Cassandra. The teacher set a task for us to write a book about Easter. The criteria was to create an Easter story of our Easter holiday break. Our book starts off as an Easter book but then it turns into more of a wacky nothing to do with Easter story. But it was still really good we then made a storyboard for it and we our now working on an animation. Here is our story.
It was an Easter Sunday morning, the dew glistened on the grass and the birds chirped in the trees. But there were no Easter eggs to be seen except one. However, it wasn’t an ordinary Easter egg. It was huge and it shone as bright as gold it also had strange symbols on it, that looked kind of like a language. It started glowing, bright blue and as the symbols turned it said something, but what? Creak! The egg slowly opened, there was a small red box in it. I grabbed the box and slowly opened it. There was a shiny switch in it which said on and off. I flicked it to on, the box made a noise. “To save Easter you must find the clues which are riddles then you have to solve the riddle to find the next clue. Here is your first clue. You will find the next clue where you go when you are blue.” “I know where this is,” I thought “it’s my tree hut, I go there when I’m sad, and blue means sad” so off to the tree hut I went.
When I got to the tree hut some steps on the ladder were gone. “This is going to be harder than I thought,” I said to myself. I ran to the garage to get a ladder but when I got back to the tree there were no steps missing. I climbed up the ladder as fast as I could incase the steps disappeared again but they didn’t. I got up safely and surely enough there was a small purple box bigger than the red one.
Slowly I opened the box but this time as well as a clue there was a piece of paper with the strange symbols on it, the same ones as the egg and it was next to the alphabet. It was the meaning of each symbol. Before I flicked the on switch for my next clue I ran to the giant egg to decode it. Once I decoded all the letters I figured out what it said. It said. “You are saving Easter but from what, from who, I am Bob, and the person who stole Easter’s name is Fred. When we were little me and Fred were friends but then he turned evil, I stayed his friend to spy on him and find out his plans. When he found out what I was doing he tried to kill me. I escaped but he is planning to destroy Easter by stealing the Easter bunny and he has got him! That’s why I’m sending you clues to save the Easter bunny, I can’t directly talk to you because I’m magical.” That’s all it said.
I flicked the switch to on and it gave me the next clue. “You’re not as dumb as I thought, you solved the first clue try looking by the river but don’t get caught.” “I know the answer to this clue, it’s where I made an Easter bunny trap to try to catch the Easter bunny.” I ran and I ran as fast as I could. Once I found the spot where I put the trap I was exhausted, but the trap wasn’t on the ground anymore, it was in the air and the box was in it. I definitely couldn’t reach it though.
Then suddenly the rope snapped but I put the trap too close to the lake and it fell in the water so I jumped in, dived under, grabbed the blue box then pulled it out of the water. But this box was different to the last two boxes it had a lock and the key was still tied to the trap. I ran to the tree hut to grab the ladder but it was gone so I ran to the garage, got a new ladder and then took it back to the trap, but the key wasn’t in the trap. Where was it? Suddenly I spotted the key running away from me, because somehow it grew legs. I ran after it, it jumped in a rabbit hole I followed. “Oh no!” I yelled. “Im in Wonderland, but my name’s not Alice.”
After I vomited from the fall, I saw the key eating a piece of cake but when he saw me he ran. But when he looked back to see if I was there he ran into the cake and fainted on the floor, so I grabbed him and opened the box. There was the next switch. Flick! I pushed it. The switch turned on, but I didn’t get another clue! I teleported to some weird futuristic lab. But then, out of the corner of my eye I saw the Easter bunny all tied up and there standing by him was Fred. What I didn’t know was Fred was a wizard, he zapped me with a bolt of lightning. I died! I went to heaven and gave up on saving Easter.
The End.
What a very creative and exciting story! It was great to see you all so motivated to write and using some excellent vocabulary with similes and a lot of adjectives.
ReplyDeleteGreat team work here! I can't wait to see the animation. Perhaps you could come and visit Room 5 and 6 and share this with them. Mum x
